Meet Laura Cox.....

Hi there!!! Laura Cox here.....and I'm going to tell y'all a little
bit about myself....yep, like it or not....lol.

I started on Hannah's DT just last year, and it's been so much
fun to create and teach classes at this awesome store!!

My crafting quest started when I was a young gal (oh those
were the days....lol)....I dabbled in painting, drawing, jewelry,
knitting, cross stitch, soap and paper making, carving,
you name it....lol....but I found my true hobby obsession
in paper crafting, at a Creative Memories show some 18
years ago! Over time, I kinda "lost touch" with that.....
yep, kids and life will do that to ya....but when I saw a
sweet neighbor taken by cancer....that all changed. I decided
life is too short to wait around to pursue what you love. And
so....I decided to "get crafty" every day. Yep...that load of wash
or those dust bunnies can wait for an hour or two.....lol.

Yep...for me, that's what my blog (you can find HERE) and
designing and teaching at Hannah's is all about....sharing with
and inspiring others in this wonderful hobby of paper crafting!

And my favorite crafty goodness....cards and altered projects,
and LOVE to use inks of any kind, but especially LOVE all
things Echo Park!!! Their collections are amazing! My new
fave for projects of any type. Make sure to check back all
this week....because I'll be featuring some great Valentine and
Scrappin' projects with EP!!

Meet Cherie Ryan - Part 3

As some of you may already know, for the past couple of years, I have been the one responsible for coordinating the fabulous Community Scrapbooking & Stamping Garage Sales here at Hannah's...and it's been such a crazy huge hit that they keep letting me plan more! We arrange for up to 28 participants to sell their gently used, or never used, products and supplies (which become treasures to others!) for a mere $5.00 fee per each table...and other than pricing their items & dropping them off, all other legwork is done by us. That means there is a possible 28 tables of insane deals to choose from at each sale, deals that you definitely don't want to miss out on! So, mark your calendars ladies & gentlemen, because our next sale is scheduled for Friday, March 23rd & Saturday, March 24th from 10am-3pm...it will be here before we know it! Introducing Cherie Ryan

Hello!
My name is Cherie Ryan. I started working at Hannah's in the make a memory department as a sales associate, as well as a class instructor, in 2006. Being creative has always been a way of life for me, and I love helping others discover their talents, so the job fits me perfectly!

I was first introduced to the wonderful world of scrapbooking 15 years ago by two very determined friends...and so my journey began! At first, I dabbled with scrapbooking itself, but only to find that my true passion would be found in stamping and cardmaking. Over the years, I have established an incredible collection of stamps...more than I can count! My favorites include anything related to the northwoods, as well as butterflies, cherries and snowmen.

This past year, I began a new chapter. I fell in love with mini chipboard albums! There is truly no better way to merge the passion I have with cardmaking and scrapbooking and best of all, they make great gifts to give from the heart! I recently make this book for my friend, Niomi of her adorable boys...she loved it!!

I also love creating my own Christmas ornaments, drawing houses and landscapes (with ink), painting with acrylics on canvas and participating in craft shows.

Meet Jill Grass Part 3

So I thought that today I would share with everyone one of my very first layouts. You know, from back in the day when I cut all of my photos into shapes and used tons of Me and My Big Ideas stickers.

Doesn't everyone have the bathtub layout??? I laugh at it, but still enjoy this layout. I enjoy it because it is a memory of where I was at with my craft and also tells the story of my kids at that tiny age. This was a time when there were very few products out on the market for scrapbookers, so we made our own. The craft of scrapbooking has taken tremendous strides in the past ten years, but we should always cherish where we started. I am loving that I cut Chloe's head out of the photo and then gave it two mats! Very Fancy!!

You know, this layout works as well as my current layouts. They all work because they tell a story and evoke wonderful memories. And isn't that why we all scrapbook anyway?

Jill Grass - Part 2

Hi Everyone:

Here is one of my favorite projects that I have created for Hannah's. I used three of my loves: 7 Gypsies, Pink Paislee and pretty old junk! These printer's boxes are so much fun to make. You can create any theme you wish.

One of my other favs is not a product but a class. We do kid's classes every Wednesday from 3-5pm and they are so much fun to teach. The kids are such creative artists. Hi:

I am Jill Grass and I work in the Make a Memory department of Hannah's. I went to school for Graphic Design and Public Relations and worked at an advertising agency for years before we started a family.

I started scrapbooking, like many people, after the birth of my son. It turned into a fun way to gather with girlfriends and family and capture those precious memories at the same time. I have been to a ton of crops, but my favorite one was an Italian cruise with Lisa Bearnson five years ago.

I have a very vintage, shabby chic style to my work. Anything old and junky and I am attracted to it. I love to visit tag sales and flea markets. I try to find unique items to add to my paper crafting projects.

Needless to say, some of my favorite companies are Jenni Bowlin, October Afternoon, Crate and Melissa Frances.

I love to help customers at Hannah's create beautiful projects. It is so much fun when I can help someone who is new to the craft make a book they are proud of.

Meet the Team!!

Hi Everyone,
I get the first week of "Meet the Team"!! My name is Dana and my family owns Hannah's in Antioch , Il. I am a mother to two wonderful boys Noah, age 12 and Braeden who is alomost 7 months old!! Yes, we have a HUGE age gap!! I started at Hannah's (used to be the Ben Franklin) when I was out of high school. I became involved in the scrapbooking part of it about ten years ago. It has become a love of mine, the oppurtunity to work and create with so many different things. Of course my favorite designer is Tim Holtz becasue his creativity sparks so many projects. We have been on Tim's waiting list for over three years now and are really hoping that 2012 is our yearf for a visit!! Over the next few days I will post pictures of my work here at Hannah's!! Starting today thru Sunday, January 22nd all Tim Holtz products will be 25% off with a copy of this post.

This week we had some really fun boxes arrive at Hannah's:

Inky Antics sent us a box of the new Fall/Halloween Stamps - Adorable!!

We also got in a huge assortment of the latest craze: Honeypops!! They are made from honeycomb paper pads to create dynamic 3-D images. If you are interested in taking a Honeypop class we are offering one On September 3rd, from 10am-12pm and September 6th from 10am-12pm.

Graphic 45 sent us the sweet vintage school line ABC Primer. They always design amazing paper.

The Halloween papers from American Crafts are in and make amazing pages when paired with their patches, badges and Thickers.

We have the new Halloween stamps and board from Great Impressions. Look for a class using these wonderful stamps later this month.

Jenny Bowlin designed adorable Halloween paper and it just came into the store today. Check it out.

Last week we had a ball with 20 kids doing our Christmas in July wall hanging. I was so impressed with their projects - they turned out amazing!!!

This Tuesday, August 2nd, from 11am-1pm, we are making a little pencil holder for your favorite teacher for the first day of school (which is quickly approaching!) Kids must be 6 years old, and sign up by calling the store anytime 847-395-3355. The cost is only $5. It is a great way to start off the year with your teacher!

New Pink Paislee/House of 3 "Soiree" Paper Line

So I have been intrigued with a scrapbook system that is gaining in popularity. There are 2 companies that I am aware of that create easy to assemble scrapbooks using divided pages. I decided to try my hand at creating my own version of their popular products and I think I have suceeded. I think the only difference is the two pages I did, do not focus on journaling or "telling the story" as much as I let my pictures explain the event.

It helped that House of Three came out with this AWESOME (did you hear that?) paper line with Pink Paislee called Soiree. I fell in love almost instantly...thank goodness my other 'love' Hannah's in Antioch is carrying this line of paper, embellishments, clear acrylic stamps, etc.

I am hoping to create these pages for them to make into kits, thereby enabling everyone, those who love to scrap and those who don't (you mean there are people out there like that?) a chance to get their memories recorded in a funky/kitchy way...and not in just a boring album.

Uber Cool Glubers!!

Have you seen the new Cosmo Cricket Glubers yet?? If you
haven't....pop over to Hannah's and check 'em out!! These
are HOT....and are selling out everywhere!! Why?? Because
you can make cool projects, whether you are a scrapbooker,
cardmaker, or just love any crafting!! This card is an example
of a project made with the NEW Glubers.....you can check it
out in person at Hannah's!! Soooo simple.....to make the fabric
flower you use a 1" or 2" strip of fabric, tie a knot in one end,
stick that in the center of the Gluber, then twist and wrap as
you continue to stick the fabric to the Gluber!!....and tada....
flower is finished! THAT EASY!! Just a few pearls in the
center, and it's project ready! Are you still not 100% sure
what a Gluber is?......well, you know you can make fabric
flowers (also ribbon, lace, seam tape, etc, etc!!), so come to
Hannah's to find out more!

The Crunchy Granny Smith Salad from the Crop

What is the best part of a crop at Hannahs? Is it the company? Is it the great specials or the fabulous give-aways? No, it's the FOOD!!! :)

Here is the recipe that you ladies begged for:

Crunchy Granny Smith Salad

1 lg head red leag lettuce, torn
2 granny smith apples, sliced and cut in half
4oz swiss cheese, grated
4oz cashews, chopped
1 c. oil
1 T. onion, minced
1 t. dry mustard
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup vinegar
2 t. poppy seed

Layer the first four ingredients in a bowl. Mix the remaining ingredients in bleder for poppy seed dressing. Pour dressing over salad.

Attention all Stampers and Scrappers...it's that time again to think about cleaning out your craft rooms to earn some extra dollars for NEW items! Come to shop, come to sell, or come for both!

Sales Dates: Friday, April 8^th, 10am-3pm

Saturday, April 9^th, 10am-3pm

Details for Registration: $10.00 fee for a table rental. One table per person. Each participant must price their own items clearly including a unique number issued to them at time of registration. ONLY items pertaining to scrapbooking or stamping will be allowed. No limit on number of items you can have in the sale. ITEMS MUST BE DROPPED OFF ON THURSDAY, APRIL 7TH BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 10AM-7:30PM. You need not be present during the sale, as a sales associate will be provided by Hannah's. All earnings will be given to you in a Hannah's Gift Card, available for pick up (along with all remaining unsold items) during the hours of 10am-4:30pm on Sunday, April 10th.

**If you were in a previous garage sale at Hannah's, and would like to reuse your number from before, please call to register as soon as possible. Otherwise, numbers will be issued on a first come, first serve basis.

Lisa Kaus - Mixed Media Artist

I was in the front of the store yesterday and freaked out! I was lucky enough to take a class with Lisa Kaus in November and she is an amazing artist.

Well, we have in a bunch of her work, and it is really sweet.

It is the perfect thing to freshen up a room for spring.

Fabulously Fun New Wood Products!!

The last couple weeks some pretty great wood products have been arriving at Hannah's. The beauty of these items, is that you can make some wonderful pieces for your home in less than an hour and for less than $10! They are also easy enough for kids to do.

Love the photo box! After you cover it with your favorite paper, it is adorable sitting on your desk, hiding junk mail and paperclips!

We made this pencil holder just using leftover scraps of paper and ribbon. Who doesn't have tons of leftover, but cute paper around their house?

We have paper mache boxes in every shape and size! A bit of paper and some embellishments, and it turns into something great!

I LOVE these tin flowers!!! More bits of paper and ribbon and they are my favor for a baby boy shower I am having this weekend. The true beauty...they take minutes to make and the flowers only cost $1.00!

Late Nite Crop is set for Friday, February 4th from 5-11p.m. We will be showing off all the latest releases from CHA Winter!

We have had numerous requests for Saturday and weekend crops the last couple weeks. We are in the process of working on dates for a weekend crop. We will have a all day crop on Saturday, February 19th from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The fee will be $20.00 which will include lunch and dinner. We will need to have at least 24 people in attendance to make this a go, so start calling all your friends.

In order to bring you wonderful product, fabulous ideas and greater flexibility we are trying something new this year:

We are going to have even more kits available to you. From page kits, banners, mini albums and home decor, we will have kits available to suit every taste and interest. We will have more projects featuring sports, birthday, wedding, pets, everyday and holidays.

You can come in to purchase our kits for one price. OR you can set up a time, at your convenience, to come into the store and make the project for only $5 more. The five dollars includes time and instruction to complete the project as well as ALL of the materials, even adhesive! No need to bring in anything but your energy and creativity.

To reserve a time to come in to complete a project, just call us 847-395-3355 and the gals at guest services will take down your name, date and time you want to come in, and the project you would like to do. It is that simple.
